KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The St. Olaf College men's soccer team attained the joint-highest regular-season ranking in program history by rising one spot to No. 3 in this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Top 25, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
For the sixth poll in a row, St. Olaf (15-1-3, 9-0-1 MIAC) moved up the rankings following a week where the Oles defeated Hamline University and tied then-No. 7-ranked Augsburg University on the road. The No. 3 ranking marked the program's highest sitting in a regular-season poll since checking in at No. 3 in four consecutive polls during the 1999 season. St. Olaf also moved up to No. 3 in this week's updated NCAA Power Index (NPI) numbers, which is the metric used to determine the at-large bids into the NCAA Tournament.
Head coach
Justin Oliver's team has been ranked in each of the last six national polls and has been ranked or received votes in ever poll this season. The Oles won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) regular-season title with a 9-0-1 mark in conference play to earn the No. 1 seed in next week's MIAC Playoffs.
St. Olaf will host a semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
