BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Junior Evelyn Kreft of the St. Olaf College volleyball team and senior
Jack Hobday of the St. Olaf men's soccer team were both chosen as one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports on Monday.
Kreft was named the MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Hobday collected MIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career. Kreft became St. Olaf's fifth MIAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week this season, while Hobday was the second for men's soccer.
Kreft tallied 34 kills (3.09 per set) while hitting .338 on the outside for St. Olaf, as the Oles ran their winning streak to nine matches with a 3-0 week. After recording nine kills in Friday night's win at Concordia-Moorhead, the junior had 12 and 13, respectively, while hitting over .400 in both matches in Saturday's victories over Nebraska Wesleyan University and UW-La Crosse.
Hobday went 2-0-0 with a 0.54 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage in No. 16-ranked St. Olaf's back-to-back MIAC wins last week. The senior made five saves in Tuesday's 6-1 victory over No. 24-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College before stopping all three shots he faced to record the shutout in a 1-0 win at Saint John's University on Saturday.
