Men's soccer up to No. 8 in United Soccer Coaches poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The St. Olaf College men's soccer team continued to climb the national rankings by rising to No. 8 in this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Top 25, as released on Tuesday afternoon.

After extending its unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) with back-to-back Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victories last week, St. Olaf (10-1-2, 5-0-0 MIAC) moved up eight spots to a season-high No. 8 in the national coaches' poll. The Oles also leapfrogged Augsburg University, which was ranked No. 10 this week nationally, for the top spot in the Region IX poll.

The No. 8 ranking is the 18th top-10 rankings in the poll's archives (since 1996) and the program's first since starting last season as the No. 1 team in the country following the team's 2023 NCAA Division III national championship. The Oles made the move up the rankings after a 6-1 victory over then No. 24-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday, followed by a 1-0 win at Saint John's University on Saturday.

As of Monday, St. Olaf led all NCAA Division III men's soccer programs in assists (40), goals (41), and total points (122), while ranking fourth in goal differential (+30), sixth in assists per game (3.08) and points per game (9.38), eighth in corner kicks per game (7.85), ninth in shots on goal per game (9.46), 10th in goals per game (3.15), and 12th in shots per game (18.92).

The Oles will host Bethel University on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.
