NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The top-seeded St. Olaf College volleyball team will host fourth-seeded Bethel University in the semifinals of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs on Thursday evening.
After a perfect run through the regular season in conference play, St. Olaf (25-7) will take on Bethel (15-10) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13 for a spot in the championship match. The Oles claimed their first MIAC regular-season title since 2010 with an 11-0 record, posting the program's first unbeaten regular season in conference play since 1996.
The Royals advanced to the semifinals with a four-set victory over fifth-seeded St. Catherine University on Tuesday evening in Arden Hills. In the other quarterfinal, the third-seeded College of Saint Benedict swept sixth-seeded Augsburg University to set up a date with second-seeded Gustavus Adolphus College on Thursday night in St. Peter. The winners of the semifinals will play for the postseason title and the MIAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday night.
Per MIAC policy, admission will be charged throughout the MIAC Playoffs and all tickets will be sold online through
HomeTown Ticketing. There will be no cash sales at any venue, but tickets can be purchased at any time using a mobile device. Tickets are $12 (plus HTT service charge) for adults and $3 (plus HTT service charge) for students (with ID). Children ages five and under are admitted for free. MIAC passes are accepted for the MIAC Playoffs, but no other passes are valid.
This year, the MIAC is implementing a one-year pay-per-view trial for the live streams of the MIAC Playoffs for all team sports. All games will be streamed on the MIAC Sports Network and fans can purchase a single-game pass for $10 or a "championship pass" for $25 to stream the entire tournament. On-demand access to all playoff games will be available after the NCAA Tournament concludes.

St. Olaf is making its 16th appearance in the MIAC Playoffs (2000-02, 2005, 2008-10, 2012, 2017-25) and is in the field for the eighth season in a row. The Oles hold a 17-13 all-time record in the tournament and have won the MIAC Playoffs on three occasions (2000, 2002, 2010). St. Olaf is 7-4 in its 11 prior appearances in the semifinals and have won at least one match in the tournament in four of its last five appearances.
This year marks Bethel's 18th berth in the MIAC Playoffs, as the Royals improved to 15-18 all-time in the tournament with their quarterfinal win. Bethel's lone MIAC Playoff title came in the second year of the tournament in 2001. The Royals have qualified for the playoffs in every season since 2011 with the exception of 2013.
St. Olaf and Bethel have met three times previously in the MIAC Playoffs, with the Oles winning two of the three meetings. St. Olaf claimed a quarterfinal win in 2017 and a semifinal victory in 2002 after the Royals posted a four-set victory in the 2001 championship match to claim their lone postseason title. St. Olaf won the regular-season meeting this year in
four sets in Arden Hills back on Sept. 26.
