Luther went 3-for-5 from behind the arc in the first three-plus minutes, but Kirk and Kraay each made a pair of three-pointers in the first nine-plus minutes to help St. Olaf to an 18-14 lead. A transition three-pointer by sophomore
Luther Tostrud with 8:17 to go in the half made the Oles 5-for-8 from long range after shooting 23.1 percent as a team coming in.
The nine-point lead after Tostrud's three-pointer was the largest lead of the half for either team, as St. Olaf led for the final 12:30 of the opening half. Roche scored 12 of his 19 points in the first half, while Charlie Wunderlich had all 12 of his points on the night before the break for the Norse.
Luther whittled St. Olaf's lead to just two six minutes into the second half before junior
Chris Willis converted a steal into a three-point play to push the Oles' lead back to five. Kraay followed with his third three-pointer to make it an eight-point game midway through the half, but the Norse quickly got it back to a two-point game with a 6-0 run.
Out of a St. Olaf timeout, Kirk made a layup and Tostrud sank a three-pointer to give the Oles a seven-point cushion. Kirk made a pair of three-pointers late - one with 2:57 to go that made it a 10-point game and another with 59 seconds left to put St. Olaf up by nine - to seal the win.
St. Olaf will head to UW-Eau Claire for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Sunday, Nov. 30.
