BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – After the most successful fall in recent memory, St. Olaf College leads the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Sports Standings at the conclusion of the fall season.
This fall, St. Olaf earned 69 points – 37 from the women's teams and 32 from the men's teams – to lead the conference's 13 institutions with a 4.5-point gap ahead of Carleton College's total of 64.5 points. St. Olaf's totals in both the men's and women's standings are also the highest in the conference.
The fall-sport standings include the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, football, and volleyball.
St. Olaf's 69 total points from the fall are its most since 2012 and the joint fourth-highest for St. Olaf since the women's trophy was implemented in the 1983-84 academic year. The 37 women's points this fall are the most for St. Olaf since 2012 and the 32 men's points are the most since 2011.
This fall, St. Olaf won MIAC titles in men's cross country, men's soccer, and volleyball, in addition to a second-place finish in women's cross country and a third-place finish in women's soccer. In the history of the all-sports competitions, St. Olaf has won the George Durenberger Trophy (men) once in 1978-79 and the Pat Wiesener Trophy (women's) twice (1983-84, 1984-85).
