NEW ORLEANS, La. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's cross country teams were both named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams and had nine student-athletes earn All-Academic Athlete honors, as announced last week.
The St. Olaf men's and women's programs both landed All-Academic Team honors for the 15th year in a row, as the women posted a team cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.58 and the men checked in and 3.42. In order to be recognized, teams must have a cumulative mark of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.
Individually, the St. Olaf women had six All-Academic Athletes, as senior
Sophie Abernethy, senior
Alison Bode, junior
Molly Kate McCloskey, junior
Grace Moeller, junior
Lauren Walda, and junior
Isabel Wyatt were all recognized. Junior
Gael Manzur Strandlund, senior
Andrew Skemp, and junior
Kevin Turlington were the individual honorees for the St. Olaf men.
Skemp, Bode, and Walda all collected their third consecutive All-Academic Athlete awards, while Turlington, Abernethy, and Moeller were honored for the second seasons in a row. Manzur Strandlund, McCloskey, and Wyatt were first-time honorees. In order to be named an All-Academic Athlete, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their regional meet or the top 50 percent of the national meet.
