BEND, Ore. – The St. Olaf College women's Nordic skiing team won its fourth consecutive U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) team national title, while men's Nordic skiing, men's alpine skiing, and women's alpine skiing all finished in the top 10 at the USCSA National Championships, which concluded on Saturday at Mt. Bachelor.
The St. Olaf women's Nordic team won all three team events at the USCSA National Championships to four-peat as the team champion with a 55-point margin over the University of Wyoming. Men's Nordic skiing placed in the top four in all three events to tie for third, while men's alpine skiing tied for ninth and women's alpine skiing finished 10th. Saturday's Nordic team sprint and alpine dual slalom were both canceled due to inclement weather.
The St. Olaf women also won the USCSA President's Award for combined alpine and Nordic performances for the fourth consecutive year, while the men placed second for the third season in a row.
Individually, St. Olaf had the top four finishers in the individual combined standings for women's Nordic. Senior
Lily Hubanks finished atop the standings after winning individual titles in the 15k Classic and 7.5K Freestyle and placing second in the Classic Sprint. Sophomore
Amae Kam-Magruder was second after winning the Classic Sprint and taking second and third, respectively, in the 7.5K Freestyle and 15K Classic. First year
Liesl Cope-Schaeffer was fourth in all three events to place third overall, while sophomore
Lily Ward was fifth after posting top-five finishes in two of the three events. First years
Annika Fuhrmann and
Lizzy Weider were also 11th and 15th overall, respectively.
First years
Paavo Rova and
Daniel Gladkov finished third and sixth, respectively, in the individual combined standings in men's Nordic. Rova was second in the 7.5K Freestyle, third in the Classic Sprint, and sixth in the 15K Classic, while Gladkov was ninth, eighth, and seventh.
Senior
Graham Barwick recorded top-20 performances in both the slalom and giant slalom to end the week in 15th in the individual standings, while senior
Kate Young was the top finisher for the Ole women in 23rd.
