Rylee and Ring sweep MIAC weekly softball awards

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior Medora Rylee and junior Roxanne Ring of the St. Olaf College softball team swept the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week accolades, as announced on Monday afternoon.

Rylee landed her first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade by being named the Player of the Week, while Ring collected the second Pitcher of the Week honor of her career. Ring was previously chosen as the Pitcher of the Week on April 3, 2023, which was also the last time St. Olaf swept the two weekly accolades.

Rylee got on base in 13 of her 14 plate appearances in St. Olaf's 4-0 week, going 10-for-11 (.909) at the plate with five doubles, two triples, three walks, seven runs scored, and seven RBI to post a .929 on-base percentage and 1.727 slugging percentage. The senior had multiple hits on three of the four games, including going 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored in game one against Augsburg University on Wednesday. She also was 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs scored, and three RBI in game one at Hamline University on Saturday.

In her lone appearance of the week, Ring threw a one-hit shutout in game one of St. Olaf's road sweep of the Pipers. The junior allowed just a third-inning single and two walks while striking out two over 5.0 innings in the second shutout of her career.

The Oles will host Carleton College on Youth Day on Tuesday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. at Mabel Shirley Field.
