DUBUQUE, Iowa – The St. Olaf College volleyball team wrapped up the Loras Invitational with a pair of three-set matches on Saturday at Lillis Court, falling to Edgewood College (26-24, 25-23, 25-23) before sweeping host Loras College (25-19, 25-19, 25-18) to conclude a 2-2 showing at the tournament.
In just the second-ever meeting between the two programs, St. Olaf (5-6) dropped all three sets by just two points to Edgewood (4-3) to start the day. The Oles ended the weekend with a sweep of Loras (3-7) for their fourth consecutive win in the series between the two programs going back to 2017.
After three tournaments away from home, St. Olaf will host co-host the Carleton/St. Olaf Invitational next weekend, starting with a meeting with the University of Chicago at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 to begin the team's Parents' Weekend. The Oles will face Wartburg College (12 p.m.) and UW-Whitewater (4 p.m.) the following day.

In the first match of the day, St. Olaf was unable to get over the hump in any of the sets against Edgewood, which won all three sets by the slimmest of margins. The Eagles enjoyed a 12-4 advantage in blocks and held the Oles to a .080 attack percentage over the three sets.

Mehsa Krause was in double figures in kills for the fifth time in six matches with 10 but was the lone Ole to tally more than 10 in the match. Sophomore

Paige Christophersen tallied her seventh double-double in nine matches this season with 26 assists and 12 digs, while classmate
Morgan Ryan recorded a match-high 22 digs for her sixth consecutive match with at least 20.
Nida Zukauskaite had seven kills on eight errorless swings to lead Edgewood to a 26-24 victory in the opening set. The Oles went on a 5-0 run to take a 21-18 lead late in the set and held three set points up 24-21, but the Eagles won the final five points of the season, three via kill by Zukauskaite.
After trailing 21-13 in the second, St. Olaf got within a point three times late in the set before Zukauskaite delivered a kill on set point to give Edgewood a two-sets-to-none lead. The third set was a similar story to the first, as the Oles were up 21-18 late on before the Eagles closed the set and match on a 7-2 run.

St. Olaf secured its first sweep since the opening weekend of the season against Loras thanks, in part, to a decided advantage at the service line. The Oles had nine aces and six service errors in the win, compared to three aces and 10 errors by the Duhawks.
Miller paced St. Olaf with nine kills on 14 swings while hitting .571 out of the middle, while Krause added seven. Christophersen accounted for four of the Oles' nine aces while adding 16 aces and eight digs, with Ryan leading the team defensively with 10 digs.
All four of Christophersen's four aces came in the opening six points of the match, as St. Olaf raced out to a 6-0 lead. Loras rallied to tie the set at 11-11 but was never able to take the lead, as Miller tallied five kills in the 25-19 set win.
St. Olaf was up by two, 19-17, late in the second set before closing the set on a 6-2 run to take a two-set advantage. In the third, the Oles used a 5-0 run to open up a 19-12 cushion on their way to wrapping up the sweep.
