ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's hockey team suffered a 5-1 defeat to No. 6/6-ranked Hamline University in the teams' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) series finale on Saturday afternoon at TRIA Rink.
Hamline (13-2-0, 7-1-0 MIAC) scored three goals in the span of less than three minutes in the first period and went on to complete the weekend sweep of St. Olaf (7-8-0, 4-4-0 MIAC) after a 5-2 win on Friday night. Senior
Molly Terebayza tallied the lone goal of the day for the Oles in the closing minutes of the third period. Hamline was ranked No. 6 this week in both the D-III Hockey News and USCHO national polls.
After a scoreless opening 11-plus minutes, the Pipers broke through on the first of Calie Peterson's three goals in the game at the 11:59 mark of the opening period that started a three-goal flurry for the hosts. Ellie Newpower made it 2-0 just 1:16 later before Peterson added her second goal of the period 1:33 after Newpower's goal to give Hamline a 3-0 lead after one.
Peterson completed her hat trick at 12:41 of the second with the lone goal of the period before Newpower tallied her second goal of the day at 16:16 of the third. Terebayza recorded her fourth goal in the last five games just 17 seconds after Newpower gave the Pipers a 5-0 lead, scoring off assists from sophomore

Solvei Berg-Messerole. Terebayza's goal made her the 10th Ole to score 40 goals in their career.
St. Olaf was 0-for-3 on the power play and killed off the lone Hamline power play in the loss. Senior
Hannah Fritz compiled 39 saves for the Oles, who were outshot by a 44-14 margin. Harper Powell made 13 saves to log the win for the Pipers.
Next weekend, St. Olaf will head to Concordia-Moorhead for a two-game road series, starting with a 7 p.m. puck drop on Friday, Jan. 23 at Moorhead Sports Center.
