Men's and women's swimming and diving compete at Minnesota First Chance Meet

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Members of the St. Olaf College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were in action at the unscored University of Minnesota First Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

Sophomores Alivia Kortuem, Harper Wolner, and Lauren Russell posted top-10 individual finishes in one event apiece for St. Olaf at the two-day meet, which serves as the final competition of the season for those who are not expected to compete at next week's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships.

Kortuem was the runner-up in the five-swimmer field in the 400-yard individual medley in 5:08.27, which was nearly 17 seconds faster than her seed time. Wolner placed 10th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.71) and Russell was 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:56.24).

St. Olaf will begin the four-day MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships with a 6 p.m. prelims session and a 7:30 p.m. finals session on Wednesday, Feb. 11 back at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
