NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A total of 87 St. Olaf College student-athletes were inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national College Athlete Honor Society, on Monday evening in the college's fifth annual induction ceremony.
St. Olaf's 87 inductees represented 23 of the college's 24 varsity-sport programs and raised St. Olaf's total to 497 inductees in the five years since forming its chapter in 2021-22. Established in 1996, Chi Alpha Sigma is a non-profit organization that recognizes college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition and is the first and only academic fraternity that specifically honors four-year collegiate student-athletes for their athletic and academic successes.
In order to be recognized, student-athletes must participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level and must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 through four full-time semesters or six full-time quarters of college coursework.
St. Olaf's induction ceremony included remarks from Athletic Director Kelly Mahlum, President Susan Rundell Singer,
Megan Timmerman '26 of women's soccer and track and field, and men's hockey alumnus Lukas Haugen '24.
