Doug Johnson

Doug Johnson '71 is in his 11th season as a member of the coaching staff for the St. Olaf football program in 2023-24 and serves as an assistant quarterbacks coach.

Johnson has made a number of coaching stops in his four-decade career, including stints at Wartburg College and Macalester College. His prep experience includes teaching and serving as the head coach at Bethlehem Academy and Woodbury High School, as well as assistant coaching/teaching stints at La Crescent High School and Woodbury.

Johnson played quarterback on the undefeated 1970 St. Olaf conference championship team coached by Tom Porter. He graduated from St. Olaf in 1971 with a Bachelor’s degree in history.

Doug and his late wife, Michele, raised a son, Greg, and a daughter, Ellen. He currently resides in Northfield.
