Michael Alada is in his first season as the wide receivers coach at St. Olaf in 2019-20.
Alada was a standout defensive back at the University of St. Thomas from 2013-16, helping the Tommies to a 30-6 record in his career. As a senior, he led all NCAA Divisions in interceptions with 11, earning All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) First Team Defense honors, NCAA Division III West Region Defensive Player of the Year honors, D3football.com First Team All-America honors and Associated Press Little All-America honors.
A 2017 graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a bachelor's degree in communications & journalism and a minor in business administration, Alada spent two years in the AmeriCorps program, completing over 4,000 hours of service with non-profits in the Twin Cities area. He also served as the head coach for a non-profit youth football team called the Eastside Blaze in East St. Paul, an area where he grew up. He also is a board member for a similar program called Lower East Side Football.
Alada was a four-year varsity player in high school, starting his freshman year at St. Bernard's in St. Paul, where his team made a state tournament appearance. Due to a school closure, he transferred to Hill-Murray, where his teams made a pair of state tournament appearances and he earned all-state honorable mention honors as a senior wide receiver.
