Mike Allen '79 is in his third season as an assistant coach for the St. Olaf football program in 2020-21 and works primarily with the offensive line.
Prior to the 2018 season, Allen returned to the Hill after spending 27 seasons on Bubba Sullivan's coaching staff at Northfield High School. Allen was previously a member of Tom Porter's coaching staff at St. Olaf from 1988-90.
During his playing days, Allen played offensive line for St. Olaf's 1978 and 1979 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) co-championship teams. He was also a catcher on Jim Dimick's baseball teams.
After graduating from St. Olaf, Allen served as a U.S. Naval Officer for seven years before returning to Northfield in 1988 and was involved with business opportunities and taught at the high school.
Allen and his wife, Laura Kay '78, live in Northfield and raised a daughter, Laura Elizabeth, and a son, Robert.
