    Volunteer Assistant Men's Hockey Coach
Marty Mjelleli will begin his ninth season as an assistant men's hockey coach at St. Olaf in 2018-19.

A Faribault, Minn. native Mjelleli played prep hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s where he helped lead the team to a national championship in 2001. He would later become a captain for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) while earning 2003-04 All-Star team honors. Mjelleli is also a member of the Buccaneer Hall of Fame.

A Cum Laude graduate of St. Cloud State University, Mjelleli played for the Division I Huskies from 2004-08. He helped the team to three straight WCHA Final Five’s and twice to the NCAA Tournament. In 2008 he received NCAA Hockey Humanitarian recognition, was a three-time WCHA All-Academic team member and was named to the All-America First Team for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award. In 2015-16 he was named Graduate of the Last Decade Award for SCSU.

Mjelleli would later play professionally for the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. He finished his career in Europe while playing in the Netherlands and Germany. Marty currently resides in Bloomington with wife Shannon and daughter Milania and son Rocco.
