Hakeem Morgan

Hakeem Morgan '24 is in his first season as an assistant coach for the St. Olaf men's soccer program in 2025-26.

A former All-American as an Ole, Morgan returned to the St. Olaf program as a coach after using his final season of eligibility playing for NCAA Division I Loyola Marymount University. He started all 17 games for the Lions and scored a pair of goals.

At St. Olaf, Morgan put together one of the most prolific careers in program history despite playing the equivalent of just three seasons. The Costa Rican concluded hir career ranked in the top five in program history in goals (t-5th, 31), assists (t-4th, 23), points (t-5th, 85), shots (2nd, 235), shots on goal (2nd, 114), and game-winning goals (t-2nd, 11). Morgan compiled those stats in 60 games after his rookie season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morgan burst onto the scene in 2021, earning Second Team All-America honors from the United Soccer Coaches and D3soccer.com after tallying 39 points on 15 goals and nine assists in 22 games. He was also a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region IX and All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) honoree that season.

As a senior, Morgan collected United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region IX and All-MIAC honors for the second time in his career after a senior campaign that saw him record 24 points on 10 goals and four assists in 22 games. He was instrumental in leading the Oles to their first NCAA Division III national title, scoring the game-winning goal in the 88th minute in a 2-1 victory at the University of Chicago in the sectional final and the game-tying goal in the 62nd minute of a 2-1 overtime win over Amherst College in the national championship game.

Morgan's play helped St. Olaf to a 54-11-6 overall record, including a mark of 25-2-3 in MIAC play, over the last three seasons. He was part of two MIAC regular-season championship teams, two MIAC Playoff championship teams, and back-to-back "Sweet 16" appearances in addition to the 2023 national title.

In October 2023, Morgan was called up to the Costa Rica U-23 National Team for a pair of international friendlies against Colombia in his home country. He was one of just two NCAA student-athletes on the 23-player roster and entered both games as a substitute.
