Kurt Anderson

Kurt Anderson concluded his 30-year career as the head coach of the St. Olaf men's soccer program in 2018, announcing his retirement on Nov. 2, 2018.

Over his 30 seasons leading the men's soccer program, Andreson compiled a 301-212-41 (.580) record as the men's coach at St. Olaf, making him the winningest coach in program history. Anderson became the 19th active NCAA Division III men's soccer head coach to reach 300 career victories when the Oles defeated Bethany Lutheran, 4-0, on Oct. 18, 2018.

During his time at St. Olaf, Anderson led the Oles to 21 winning seasons, 17 double-digit win seasons, six regular season MIAC Championships (1992, 1998, 2004, 2011, 2014, 2015), six NCAA Tournament appearances (1992, 1998, 1999, 2009, 2011, 2015), including the program's first NCAA Division III "Sweet 16" appearance in 2015, and a pair of MIAC Playoff titles (2011, 2015).

Anderson was named the MIAC Coach of the Year four times (1996, 1998, 2011, 2014) and the 17 wins by his 1999 and 2011 teams stand as program records.

Anderson also spent five seasons as the head coach of the women's soccer program at St. Olaf from 2001-05, accumulating a record of 46-37-7 (.550). He started his career as the head men's soccer coach at his alma mater, Augustana (Ill.) College, going 61-38-10 (.606) with the Vikings.

In total, Anderson won 347 games as a head coach at St. Olaf between the men's and women's programs and 408 games in his career at the Division III level.

In addition to coaching soccer at St. Olaf, Anderson was an assistant coach for the Oles' baseball program from 1991-2017 under Jim Dimick and Matt McDonald. Over that span, St. Olaf went 638-389 (.621) overall and 336-181 (.650) in the MIAC, winning five MIAC Championships (1992, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007) and making eight NCAA Tournament appearances (1991, 1992, 1994, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009).

Anderson and his wife, Barbara, live in Northfield and have two children, Karl and Signe.
