Dick Kleber is the emeritus tennis coach for the St. Olaf men's and women's tennis programs.
Kleber played tennis for one year at St. Cloud State University where he played No. 2 singles before transferring to St. Olaf in 1952. He advanced to the semifinals at No. 1 singles in the Midwest Conference Tournament in both 1952-53 and 1953-54 while also playing at No. doubles. In 1953-54, he was the de facto acting head coach, running practices and setting lineups for matches. After exhausting his eligibility before his senior season, Kleber was named a student coach and practiced with the team in 1954-55.
Kleber began graduate school at the University of Iowa in 1955 and went on to earn his PhD in mathematics. In 1960, he was hired at St. Olaf as a mathematics professor and taught on the Hill until his retirement in 1996. He coached the men's tennis team from 1962-66 and has been a faithful fan of both the men's and women's teams since then.
