Scott Nesbit is in his 34th season as the head women's tennis coach at St. Olaf in 2022-23. He also led the men's tennis program for 30 seasons starting in 1989-90.
Nesbit has led the Oles to a record of 332-207 (.616) in dual matches in his career. According to available information, he ranks 13th among active NCAA Division III women's tennis coaches in dual match victories, tied for 24th in career dual match wins, and 46th in winning percentage in dual matches.
Under Nesbit, the St. Olaf women's tennis program has appeared in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs in 12 of the tournament's 14 years. The Oles were the tournament's runner-up in 2009 and 2010 and have appeared in the semifinals seven times, including the most recent 2020-21 season where St. Olaf became the first No. 6 seed to ever win a match in the MIAC Playoffs with a 5-3 quarterfinal win over Macalester.
During his time leading the men's program, Nesbit led the Oles to eight appearances in the MIAC Playoffs, including runner-up finishes in both 2009 and 2014 as the No. 4 seed. St. Olaf appeared in the semifinals five times in its eight appearances in the tournament.
In addition to his coaching duties, Nesbit teaches in the kinesiology department and serves as the faculty advisor for the St. Olaf Fellowship of Christian Oles (FCO) group and for the Empowering Girls through Sports Honor House.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Nesbit teaches nine classes a year in the kinesiology department, including tennis, racquet sports, lifetime sports and games and fly-fishing/fly-tying.

Prior to his time at St. Olaf, Nesbit and his wife, Elaine, lived in the Chicago area. He was the women's tennis coach at Wheaton College and the men's coach at North Central College. He was the assistant women's coach at the University of Illinois at Chicago for two years when he was a graduate student. In addition, Nesbit taught at various tennis clubs as a USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) tennis teaching professional. He taught at DuPage Racquet Club, Hinsdale Racquet Club, Oakbrook Tennis Club and Butterfield Country Club.

Nesbit also had a stint as a high school history teacher and tennis and soccer coach for four years.
A 1979 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in history/secondary education with a coaching minor, Nesbit earned a master's degree in physical education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. While at UW-Eau Claire, Nesbit played four years of tennis for the Blugolds and was selected to the NAIA Academic All-American team in 1978, while also being named UWEC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Nesbit was inducted into the UW-Eau Claire Athletic Hall of Fame.
Nesbit attended Edina East High School, where he was a member of two Minnesota state tennis championship teams (1973, 1975) and also won a state championship in doubles in 1975 with his partner, Billy Arnold.

Nesbit has also played in United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments and leagues for approximately 40 years. He has been ranked in the junior and adult age groups. Currently he plays on a USTA 55-and-over adult summer league. His teams have qualified for national competition three times.

Scott and his wife, Elaine, have two daughters, Kate '12 and Stina '15, who both graduated from St. Olaf.
