St. Olaf College Athletics

In 2014, Cindy Book will be in her 22nd season as head coach at St. Olaf and in her 23rd overall. Book is in the top 10 in terms of wins (710) and in the top 35 in winning percentage (.669) in NCAA Division III volleyball history.
 
She began her career at Keene State (N.H.), where she was head coach for two seasons before spending eight seasons at Bethel University. Book eclipsed the 500 career win plateau on Sept. 1, 2000 in a five-game win over Washington University in Indianola, Iowa and reached 600 wins during the 2008 season. Her 700th career victory came in a four-set home match against St. Catherine.
 
She has coached seven All-Americans at St. Olaf, including 2011 graduate Kim Smisek.
 
Book received her undergraduate degree from Springfield College (Mass.), her master's from Keene State and her PhD from the University of Minnesota.
 
She currently serves as the chair of the exercise science department. Cindy, a native of Woodbury, Conn., and her husband Paul reside in Northfield. Their son Graham is a 2008 graduate of St. Olaf.
