NORTHFIELD, Minn. -
Peter Lindblad scored the lone goal for St. Olaf as the Ole men's hockey team lost 4-1 to Saint John's University on Friday night.
SJU opened the scoring ten minutes into the first period via a goal from John Carroll. Ten minutes later, SJU added a second goal when Nick Senta took advantage of a power play, giving SJU a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.
Dan McNamara made it 3-0 eight minutes into the second period. St. Olaf scored to make it 3-1 with a goal from
Peter Lindblad (assisted by
Steven Sherman and
Mike Erickson). Dave Mylrea scored the fifth goal of the game in the 20th minute, completing a 4-1 victory for Saint John's.
Ole goalkeeper
Steve Papciak made 21 saves on the night. SJU keeper Saxton Soley was forced into making 39 saves after the Oles managed 15 shots in both the second and third periods.
The St. Olaf men play Saint John's University in the second game of the weekend tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Collegeville.
