St. Paul, Minn.- The University of St. Thomas scored three third period goals in the span of less than nine minutes to defeat the St. Olaf men's hockey team.
Ole Setsaas opened the scoring in the ninth minute of play to give the Oles a 1-0 lead over UST. St. Olaf held that lead until five minutes into the third period, when Connor McBride scored for St. Thomas to make it a tied game at 1-1.Â
St. Thomas took the lead 65 seconds later, then made it 3-1 in the 14th minute. UST scored their final goal of the game off an empty net a minute from the final buzzer to make it 4-1.
St. Olaf managed 20 shots on goal, forcing Tommie keeper Drew Fielding to make 19 saves.Â
Steve Papciak made 24 saves as the Oles were out-shot 28-20.
The St. Olaf men play the University of St. Thomas again tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. in Northfield.Â
