ST. PETER, Minn. - Lawrence University edged St. Olaf 4-3 in a non-conference men's hockey game on Sunday afternoon at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Ryan Rumble scored twice, including the game-winner at 3:45 of the third period.
St. Olaf (2-8-0) had two assists from
Marc Richards and a game-tying goal in the final minute of the second period from
Matt Geurts in the loss. The Oles also had goals from
Brian Hickey and
Matt Kroska. Kroska's goal game St. Olaf a 1-0 lead in the third minute with his score at 2:52. Hickey's goal was short-handed, on assists from Richards and
Steven Sherman, at 14:21 of the second period.
Jake Roeper added a goal and two assists and Mattias Soderqvist had 37 saves, including 15 in the final period, for Lawrence (5-4-1).
St. Olaf returns to MIAC play this weekend with a home-and-home series against Gustavus. The teams meet in St. Peter on Friday before a 7:30 p.m. game at Northfield Ice Arena on Saturday.
