NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St.Olaf men's hockey defeated second-ranked UW-Stevens Point, 3-2, on Saturday night for its first victory of the 2014-15 season.
St. Olaf (1-3-0) scored 13 minutes into the first period with a solo goal from
Brian Hickey. UWSP (1-1-0) responded four minutes later to give the match a 1-1 score after the first period. Mike Erikson scored the only goal of the second period, despite USWP managing 21 shots.
Stevens Point leveled the game for the second time four minutes into the final period of play before
Steven Sherman scored the game winner six minutes from the final whiste.
UWSP out-shot St. Olaf 50-33, forcing Ole keeper
Steve Papciak to make 48 saves- 18 more than UWSP goalkeeper Brandon Jaeger.
The St. Olaf men play Saint John's University Friday, November 14th at 7:30 p.m.
