NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St. Olaf men's basketball team led by 22 points at halftime and by as many as 29 in the second half en route to an 85-60 win over the University of Northwestern Monday night at Skoglund Center.
The Oles (8-1, 3-1 MIAC) shot over 57 percent (16-for-28) in the opening 20 minutes, including 5-for-5 from beyond the arc, and were led by
Ben Figini, who scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half.
Justin Pahl (16) and
Sam Daly (11) also scored in double figures for St.Olaf.
Northwestern (1-9, 0-0 UMAC) never led in the game and received 19 points from Will Gisler, the only Eagle in double figures.
St. Olaf dominated the glass, holding a 41-26 advantage. The Oles were credited with assists on 20 of 29 made field goals, led by
Riley Aeikens with five.
The Northwestern bench outscored St. Olaf's 37-28 but the Oles held a 16-4 advantage in points off turnovers. Of the 13 Oles that got into the game, 11 scored points.
St. Olaf will not be in action until after the New Year when they host Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday, January 3 at Skoglund Center.Â
