Northwestern uses late score to upend Oles

Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - Northwestern's Jacob Rettig caught a five-yard touchdown with 1:20 left in regulation as the host Eagles held off St. Olaf 17-16 in a non-conference football game on Saturday night. 

The Oles mounted a drive inside the final minute, going 45 yards in 10 plays. But Nate Penz' 4th-down pass to the end zone fell incomplete as time expired. 

Penz finished the evening 24-of-35 for 243 yards and a touchdown. Penz found Joel Reinhardt for the game's first score, a 13-yard strike with 6:16 left in the first. 

After a game-tying score from NWU, the Oles scored nine straight. Ezra Coughlin connected on a 18-yard field goal with 11:31 left in the second before J.J. Strnad plunged in for a two-yard score to make it 16-7. The Oles missed the ensuing point after. 

Northwestern quarterback Jacob Fletcher was 20-of-31 for 229 yards and two touchdowns.
