Betsey Daly had 15 points and 10 rebounds as the St. Olaf women's basketball team defeated No. 21 Luther College 73-58 on Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Center.
Afton Wolter added 15 points and
Lauren Gutierrez 10 points, three assists and four steals for the Oles (4-1), who led by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter. Kylie Romeo had 16 points and Moran Lonngin 12 and 13 rebounds for Luther (4-1).
Makenna Ash chipped in nine points and eight rebounds off the bench for St. Olaf. The Oles had 15 assists and only nine turnovers against the Norse full-court pressure. Luther had nine assists and 14 turnovers in the loss.
St. Olaf led 21-16 through one quarter and 41-31 at the half. Luther cut the lead to eight midway through the third quarter, but the Oles used an 8-1 run to finish the frame. A layup by
Zoe Hansen and back-to-back 3-pointers by Wolter extended the lead to 21 with 7:03 left.
St. Olaf opens MIAC play on Wednesday at Augsburg College (5-1).
