PhotosNORTHFIELD, Minn.- Hamline University beat the St. Olaf men's hockey team in an over time shootout on Friday night in a game highlighted by an 8 goal second period.
Mark Rath tied the game 34 seconds into the second period after Charlie Adams opened scoring for HU in the first. Rath was joined by four other goalscorers in the second period:
Peter Lindblad,
Patrick Sivets,
Drew Otto, and Steve Sherman.
Hamline's Chad Hennum scored two of HU's three goals in the second period to keep pace with St. Olaf. The Oles lead 5-4 until Garret Schmitz tied the game in the seventh minute of the thrid peroid. After a scoreless overtime period, Hamline won 2-0 in a shootout.
St. Olaf goalkeeper Luke Andruik made 48 saves as HU out shot the Oles 53-29.
The St. Olaf men will face off against Hamline again tomorrow night, November 7th, at 7 p.m. in St. Paul.
