MINNEAPOLIS -
Ben Figini had 17 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 15 St. Olaf to a 67-58 MIAC men's basketball win over host Augsburg College on Wednesday night at Si Mellby Hall.
Sterling Nielsen added 15 and
Justin Pahl 10 points for the Oles (19-3, 14-3 MIAC), who won their sixth straight. Figini went 7-for-11 from the field.
Joe Zangel had 17 points and nine rebounds and Parker Hines 13 points to lead Augsburg in the loss.
The teams traded the lead six times in the opening 20 minutes. The Oles used a 10-0 run to take their largest lead of the half, at 31-24, capped by a
Caleb Lunning rebound and basket for a three-point play. On the ensuing possession the Auggies' Richie Perea nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to make it 31-27 at the break.
With the win, St. Olaf improves to 10-1 on the road. The Oles will play at Hamline University on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
St. Olaf has clinched a spot in the MIAC playoffs and will play a home game to open the six-team event. The Oles can clinch the second seed with a win in any of their remaining three games or Bethel loss in any of the Royals' final four regular season contests. First place St. Thomas (20-1, 15-1 MIAC) was idle on Wednesday. The Oles and Tommies meet next Monday in St. Paul.
