WAVERLY, Iowa - The St. Olaf volleyball team was defeated by Coe College in five sets before a three-set loss to host Wartburg in the Knights' Invitational on Friday night.
Coe 3, St. Olaf 2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-8)Coe overcame a 2-0 set deficit to beat the Oles in five on the heels of five players in double digits for kills. Lauren Himan had 18 and Olivia Leisinger 17 for Coe in the victory.
St. Olaf was led by
Kathryn Johnson's 14 kills and
Abby Carpenter's 11.
Sophie Schwartz added five blocks and
Kersten Bork 21 set assists.
Wartburg 3, St. Olaf 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16)Claire Willenbring had 16 kills on 39 attempts as Wartburg swept visiting St. Olaf in three. The Oles'
Megan Grimes had eight kills and
Abby Slack 25 digs in the loss.
St. Olaf will play UW-Platteville at 10 a.m. and Buena Vista University at 12 p.m. tomorrow to conclude the event.
