PhotosNORTHFIELD, Minn. - No. 23 Bethel University defeated St. Olaf 49-3 in a MIAC football game on Saturday afternoon at Manitou Field.
Marshall Klitzke rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns while Trey Anderson was 8-of-11 passing for 132 yards and three touchdowns for the Royals (2-1, 1-0 MIAC).Â
Connor McCormick rushed for 159 yards on 15 carries for the Oles (1-2, 0-1 MIAC) in the loss.Â
Bethel scored touchdowns on seven of its nine drives and outgained St. Olaf 523-248. BU marched 57 yards in seven plays on its first drive, 47 in four on its second and 72 on nine plays in its third on the way to a 21-0 first quarter lead.
On its first possession of the second half, St. Olaf drove 65 yards on eight plays, but had 34-yard field goal attempt sail left. The Oles got on the board in the third quarter after a 71-yard McCormick run set up a 21-yard field goal for
Owen Witte.
Brice Peterson had nine tackles while
Kyle Keenan and
David Jean, who had a sack, had eight each for the St. Olaf defense. The Royal defense held St. Olaf to nine first downs in the win.
St. Olaf hosts Concordia College (Minn.) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
