STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the visiting St. Olaf men's hockey team 6-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Pointers' Joe Kalisz collected a natural hat trick in the decisive third period to give UW-Stevens Point its fourth straight win.
St. Olaf (2-10-3) led 4-0 and 4-1 after two periods. The Oles had goals from
Judd Loewenstein,
David Rath,
JT Paine and Ole Stetsaas. Stetsaas' goal put the Oles ahead 4-0 at the 8:09 mark of the second.Â
UW-Stevens Point then had a goal from Jono Davis at 9:44 of the second. A Nathan Harris power-play goal at 5:06 was the first of five Pointer goals in the final frame.Â
UW-Stevens Point controlled the action, with 39 shots to the Oles' 15, including a 15-2 advantage in the third. Each team killed penalties well. St. Olaf was 0-for-5 and UW-Stevens Point 1-of-7 with an advantage.
St. Olaf returns to MIAC play this weekend with a home-and-home series with Saint John's. The teams play on Friday night in St. Cloud and on Saturday in Northfield.Â
