Justin Plate's late third period goal and shootout score led the St. Olaf men's hockey team to a 3-3 tie and shootout win over Gustavus on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
Plate scored the game-tying goal with two seconds in regulation, just 18 seconds after the Oles pulled within a goal on
Drew Otto's second tally of the game at 19:40.Â
Otto had a team-high five shots for St. Olaf ( 4-11-3, 2-5-2 MIAC) and got the Oles on the board at 3:08 of third on an assist from
Garrit Otten. which trailed 2-0 after two periods. Otto's first goal brought the Oles within one at 3:08 of the third before Gustavus' Evan Erickson made it 3-1 with 3:52 left.
Erik Hancock earned the tie in net for the Oles, collecting 28 saves, 15 in the second period.Â
The Oles will finish up the weekend series at Gustavus tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Don Roberts Ice Rink.Â
