BLAINE, Minn. - Saint John's scored four unanswered goals in the final 11:56 to defeat St. Olaf 5-2 in the final game of the MIAC Men's Hockey Showcase on Sunday afternoon at Schwan's Super Rink.
St. Olaf took a 2-1 lead on
Drew Otto's goal at 6:00 of the final period. The Johnnies (2-0-0) struck back with Ross Stecklein's score 2:06 later and regained the lead on Dan McNamara's goal at 9:36.Â
Matt Colford had three assists for SJU. He, with Kyle Wagner, fed Mitch Fritz at 15:37 to make it 4-2 and Cole Souto at 17:44 for the final margin.Â
Caleb Callaway had the Oles' other goal.
Andy Jordahl and
Carter Lukenda assisted on the goal at 7:43 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. SJU led 1-0 on a Daniel Tripicchio goal at 5:13 of the first.
SJU was 2-for-7 on the power play while the Oles were 1-for-6.
Jude Hull made 35 saves for teh Oles and Andrew Lindgren 30 for SJU.Â
St. Olaf opens MIAC play on Friday night at Hamline University. The teams play in Northfield in the series finale on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
