SUPERIOR, Wis. -
Jude Hull made 37 saves in a shutout victory and
Steven Sherman had two goals and an assist as the St. Olaf men's hockey team defeated UW-Superior 6-0 on Friday night.
JT Paine added a goal and two assists as the Oles (1-4-0) picked up their first win of 2016-17 and in the tenure of
Mike Eaves.
St. Olaf did most of its damage in the opening 24 minutes. The Oles scored three first period goals --
Will Dittrich at 3:30, Sherman at 11:20 and
Patrick Sivets at 11:45 -- and had two in the first 3:39 of the second.
Kyle Rimbach scored at 1:19 and Sherman his second score at 3:36. Paine added the final goal at 10:09 of the final period on an assist from Sivets.Â
The Yellowjackets (3-2-0) held a 37-24 advantage in shots, but went 0-for-5 on power plays. The Oles went 2-of-6 on the power play in the win.
St. Olaf hosts UW-Stout on Saturday at Northfield Ice Arena at 7:30 p.m.
