NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Sixth-ranked Augsburg College held off an upset-minded St. Olaf on Friday in a 4-2 MIAC men's hockey victory in first game of a home-and-home series.

Tuukka Totro's power-play goal brought the Oles within a score, at 3-2, at the 2:42 mark of the third period. The Oles, who trailed 2-0 in the first, also had a goal from Will Dittrich in the loss. Dittrich's score came on an assist from John Feemster. 

JT Paine and Drew Otto assisted on Totro's goal. 

Nate Flynn had a goal and an assist for Augsburg (8-0-1, 3-0-0 MIAC). Flynn assisted on Corbin Chapman's goal at 13:20 of the first period that gave the visitors a 2-0 advantage. 

Augsburg outshot St. Olaf 35-29, but the Oles had the upper hand over the final two periods, sending 21 shots on net to the Auggies' 15. St. Olaf had 12 in the final 20 minutes, including a flurry of opportunities in the last five, but a Drew Anderson empty-net goal with 36 seconds left all but ended the Oles' hopes of an upset. 

The teams will meet in the series finale in Minneapolis tomorrow at 7 p.m.
