NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf volleyball team swept both Bethany Lutheran College (25-9, 25-17, 25-18) and Macalester College (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) to open its season on Friday in the first day of the St. Olaf Invitational. The two matches were Ole head coach
Emily Foster's first of her head coaching career.

Megan Grimes and freshman
Lauren Rewers led both teams in kills with nine apiece in the Oles' first win of the season.
Abigail Wiedel finished the match with 17 set assists and eight digs for her college debut.
Abby Slack led the defense with 16 digs, while
Sophie Schwartz and Rewers had three blocks each.
Game 2: St. Olaf 3, Macelester College 0
Grimes had 11 kills and a .200 hitting percentage as St. Olaf (2-0) won their second straight with a three set sweep over Macalester. Rewers added another nine kills in the win, while
Abby Carpenter finished the match with seven.
Slack led both teams in digs with 26 and setter
Abigail Wiedel had 15 assists.
St. Olaf will play again tomorrow morning for a 9 a.m. match against Crown College and an 11 a.m. match vs. Matin Luther College at Carleton's West Gym.
