JT Paine's game-tying goal with 1:35 left in the third period helped St. Olaf play to a 2-2 tie with Saint John's, as the Oles later won the shootout 2-0 on Saturday night at the National Hockey Center.
With the shootout win, St. Olaf took five of the six points in the series after Friday night's 2-0 win in Northfield.
Drew Otto scored the Oles' other goal. Tobias Garielsen and
Tuukka Totro had assists on the power-play goal which got the Oles within one with 19 seconds left in the first.Â
SJU out-shot St. Olaf 44-20 in the game. The Johnnies led 2-0 after a pair of goals -- by Robb Stautz and Mitch Fritz -- midway through the first period. Daniel Tripicchio assisted on each goal.
The Oles'
Jude Hull made 18 of his 42 saves in the first period, when the Oles killed two of three penalties. Hull has allowed five goals over his last three appearances (1-1-1).  His .931 save percentage this season is third in the MIAC.Â
St. Olaf will play a home-and-home with Gustavus Adolphus College next weekend. The teams meet in St. Peter on Friday and in Northfield on Saturday.Â
