NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Jack Goldstein's 31-yard touchdown pass to Gonzalo Pirela's in the fourth quarter helped St. Olaf defeat Carleton College 29-26 in a MIAC football game on Saturday at Klein Field at Manitou.

Goldstein threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions as a part of a 17-for-30 afternoon. The Oles' Khayleb Willis rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown, as St. Olaf regained the lead late on Pirela's catch in traffic. The Oles had leads of 14-7 and 21-20.

Emanual Williams rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights (0-8, 0-6 MIAC), who drove deep into Ole territory in the final minute. Carleton took over on their own 18-yard line with 1:33 to play and Knights quarterback Christian Zaytoun connected on passes of 41 and 17 yards to get the ball inside the St. Olaf 20. On fourth down, the Oles' Max Karpinske broke up a pass in the end zone to secure the win.

Zaytoun was 21-of-39 for a touchdown and an interception. Fletcher Metz was his favorite target, collecting seven receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Goldstein hit six different receivers in the victory, the fourth in a row for St. Olaf over Carleton. Jorgen Salveson had five catches for 93 yards, Troy Peterson had five for 92, including a 55-yard touchdown. Devin Murphy had the Oles' other TD reception, a three-yard catch in the first quarter.

Peterson's five receptions gives him 182 for his career, just three off the school record held by Horace Gant (2004-07).

Each team scored four touchdowns, but Carleton missed its third PAT and was unsuccessful in a two-point conversion try with a 26-21 lead. Pirela made his three PAT tries and the Goldstein connected with Ben Smithson on a two-point try after Pirela's TD catch.

Willis' 145-yard day on the ground was exclaimated by his 67-yard TD run.

St. Olaf now owns a 53-43-1 record in the series between the Northfield colleges, and the Oles have won 18 of the last 21.
