NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Megan Grimes had 17 kills to lead the Oles as No. 4 St. Olaf (22-10, 7-4 MIAC) beat No. 5 Bethel (19-8, 7-4 MIAC) 3-1 -- 25-19, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23 -- on Tuesday night.
The Oles took the first set but faltered in the second, committing six errors in route to a lost set.
After loosing the second set, the Oles took the third with their greatest margin of victory for a set in the match at 10 points.
Facing elimination, the Royals took the first lead of the fourth set on a Tina Hoppe kill. Bethel would not rescind their lead until a Royal attack error by Macie Gavic put the Oles up 16-15.
After Bethel tied it up at 23 in the fourth, the Oles won back to back points to take the set and the match.
Lauren Rewers led the Oles with three aces, one of which was the set winning point in the first.
With the win, the Oles advance to face 2017 MIAC Champion St. Thomas on Thursday.
