NORTHFIELD, Minn. -
Jude Hull made 26 saves and Tobias Gabrielson's first period goal broke a 1-1 tie as St. Olaf skated past Saint John's 3-1 in a MIAC men's hockey game on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
Gabrielson's goal was the third in a wild 1:01. The Johnnie's Tristyn Sabina scored to give Saint John's the lead, 1-0, at 9:22. The Oles'
Chris Koziel then tied the game 13 seconds later to even the score at 1-1. Gabrielson then found the net at 10:23, on assists from
Will Dittrich and
Caleb Callaway, for the Oles' one-goal advantage.
The teams played scoreless for the following period and a half, until
Connor Smith trickled in an empty-net goal from just outside the Oles' zone to put the game away.
St. Olaf (4-3-0, 2-1-0 MIAC) and SJU (5-2-0, 1-2-0 MIAC) will play the series finale tomorrow afternoon at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud at 2 p.m.
