ST. PAUL, Minn. -
Troy Diggins Jr. led the Oles with 13 points as St. Olaf (3-0, 1-0 MIAC) won the first conference game of their season 59-44 over Macalester (1-3, 0-1 MIAC) on Wednesday.
The Scots opened the scoring with a three-point shot from Wyatt Ferm to give Macalester their first and only lead of the night.
Sam Stensgard sank a three of his own to even the game at 3-3, and a
Dom Bledsoe free throw gave the Oles a 4-3 lead. Macalester would go on to even the game up at 6-6, but a
Frank Delaney jumper with 14:13 remaining in the first half gave the Oles a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the game.
Diggins Jr. and
Austin Korba led the Oles with eight rebounds apiece. Delaney added 10 points and four rebounds to go along with his team leading two blocks and three steals.
Ferm led the Scots with 14 points on the night. He also led Macalester with eight rebounds.
St. Olaf's 3-0 start is their best since the 2014-15 season, in which the Oles opened the season with five straight wins.
Next up for the Oles is another conference game as they take on Gustavus this Saturday.
