Koziel hat trick leads Oles to 6-2 win at Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. - Chris Koziel scored thrice as St. Olaf defeated Gustavus Adolphus College 6-2 in a MIAC men's hockey game on Saturday night at Don Roberts Rink.

Koziel scored the game's first two goals, one at 18:20 of the first period and the second at 8:18 of the second, and added his third at 15:03 of the second to give the Oles a 3-1 lead. 

Gustavus got within a score on Tim Donohue's goal with 4:35 left in the second period, but the Oles put the game away with three unanswered. Luke Ranallo, Gordon Wells and Drew Otto posted goals for the Oles as St. Olaf saved a split in the MIAC opening series.

Eric Hancock made 29 saves in the win for the Oles (2-2-0, 1-1-0 MIAC), while Chris Amsden had 27 for Gustavus. 

Otto and Tuukka Totro had two assists each for St. Olaf.

The Oles had a slight edge in shots, 33-31 and converted 4-of-7 power play opportunities. Gustavus was 0-for-2.
