Oles race early-season meet at Mankato

Results

MANKATO, Minn. - Jumping right into the 2017-18 track season, the St. Olaf women's track and field team competed at the Chuck Peterson Open on Saturday in the Myers Fieldhouse hosted by Mankato State University.

The Oles swept the podium in the two distance events.  First in the mile, Lindsey Kemp won in 5:46.06, edging out teammate Katie Spray (5:46.17).  Lauren Herland at 5:46.42 was not far behind either.  Jena Moody rolled in the 3000, cruising to a 10:28.89 victory.  Bryony Hawgood and Mary Naas completed the trifecta with times of 10:35.76 and 10:46.52 respectively.

In the sprints, Katie Elstad led the Oles in the 200 meter dash running 27.17 to finish 10th.  Lillie Meakim was 18th in 27.85 and Hayli Marquette was 29th in 29.89.  Elstad doubled back in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters to tie for seventh place.

Mackenzie Schoustra qualified for the finals in the 60 meter hurdles, running 9.83 in prelims, then 9.85 to finish seventh in the finals.

Other top 10 finishes for the Oles included a sixth place finish by Avery Prine in the pole vault (2.70 meters) and a ninth place throw by Jessica Bently (10.84 meters).

The Oles collected 66.1 team points to put them third in the final results.  Minnesota State-Mankato won the meet on the women's side with a lofty 200.7 points.

The next meet for the Oles will be on January 12 where St. Thomas will host the Tommie Opener to commence the 2018 season.
