NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Tyler Weiss had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Saint John's, which withstood a 25-5 second half run by St. Olaf, to beat the host Oles 78-71 in a MIAC men's basketball game on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
Austin Korba had 15 points for the Oles (8-11, 6-8 MIAC), who trailed 64-40 with 12:56 to go. The Oles then hit five three-pointer over the next six-plus minutes to get within 69-65 with 5:37 to play. St. Olaf had two possessions down by four but missed on each.
Robert Tobroxen had 14 points,
Austin Majeskie 13 and
Matthew Stroud 10 in the loss for St. Olaf. Patrick Strom added 15 points for the Johnnies, while David Stockman had 12 and nine rebounds and Jubie Alade 10 points off the bench.
SJU led 49-29 at the half. St. Olaf was 2-of-7 in the first half from three-point range before going 8-for-13 in the second.
