NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's hockey team (6-6-1) played the University of Wisconsin River Falls (6-9-2) to a 3-3 tie on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
The Falcons jumped out to a lead in the first period. Eddie Matsushima scored 4:39 into the game and Joe Drapluk added another goal four minutes later to put River Falls up by two.
St. Olaf answered in the second when
Judd Loewenstein assisted
Gordon Wells to score his fifth goal of the season. The Falcons regained their two goal advantage with a Cayden Cahill goal in the final two minutes of the period.
The Oles cut the Falcon lead in half when
Drew Otto scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the third frame.
Roshen Jaswal and
Tuukka Totro assisted Otto on the goal.Â
With 58 seconds remaining in regulation,
Charlie Widmar scored his third goal of the season to tie the game. Otto assisted Widmar on the play.
A scoreless overtime period resulted in the first draw of the Oles' season.
Next up for the Oles is a home game against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday.Â
