NORTHFIELD, Minn. -
Drew Otto scored twice, but the St. Olaf men's hockey team suffered a 3-2 loss to visiting Saint Mary's University on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena by virtue of Ben Owen's go-ahead goal in the third period.
Otto's second goal tied the game at 2-2 at the 17:40 mark of the second period on an assist from Tobias Gabrielson. His first goal also tied the game, at 1-1 with 11 minutes left in the first period.
Paul Stehr and
Judd Loewenstein had assists.
With the loss, St. Olaf (8-12-3, 5-8-2 MIAC) was eliminated from MIAC Playoff contention.
The Oles had two power play opportunities, including one in the games final two-plus minutes.
SMU had two assists from Jared Johnson. The Cardinals (9-11-4, 6-6-3 MIAC) had first period goals from Kellen Wasell and Chad Cesarz to take a 2-1 lead to intermission.
