ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's hockey team (7-11-2, 4-7-1 MIAC) rallied to tie the game in the third period, but St. Thomas (14-6-1, 9-2-1 MIAC) regained the lead in the final minutes to defeat the Oles 6-4 on Saturday.
After a scoreless opening frame, the Oles got on the board in the second with a
Kyle Rimbach goal. The Tommies proceeded to score three unanswered and ended the second period up 3-1.
Roshen Jaswal cut the Oles deficit in half with a power play goal early in the third, but afterwards Brian LeBlanc scored to regain St. Thomas' two goal lead.
The Oles rallied to tie up the game at 4-4 as
Chris Koziel and
Gordon Wells both capitalized on power plays and scored within two minutes of each other. Wells' game tying goal came with 7:39 remaining in regulation.
Broydon Stufko regained the lead for the Tommies with 2:03 remaining, and Johnny Panvica capitalized on an empty net lineup in the waning seconds to complete the series sweep for St. Thomas.
Next up for the Oles is a trip to Bethel on Friday.
